Jakob had a Birthday!

My grandson Jakob turned 3 last week. Oh, my it doesn't seem like only 3 years ago. Here's Beka waiting patiently for Jakob's arrival.
I was there the very early morning he was born. And I cried like a baby. Grandbabies are the BEST!

Here's Jakob at his party. After all that hard construction work with Grandpa last October, Jakob had a Bob the Builder themed party. Five little friends and of course, little sis, Sadies.

I loved the cake! And it seems that Jakob and Sadies did also.

There was a part of me that felt we "whimped out" when it came to the gift part. Mr. Scottie Dog and I sent $$ to Beka since they would know best what he wanted/needed and we'd save on shipping the big box to Minn. Of course a box of little goodies & toys and Easter fun and new Easter outfits was sent from Eureka a few weeks ago, but that was a small box.

Jason and his Mum (Linda is Canadian) had a great time doing the shopping. See what we bought the Birthday Boy: A motorcycle! And he's nice enough to let Sadies ride too! Wish I could have been there, but there's time for more parties in the future.

Sydney Turns 4!

March 21 marks birthday number 4 for Sydney Sarah Adams, my eldest grandbaby. Saturday Sydney and Grandma had a date for lunch. We went to a "real" restaurant for the occasion. After all, when you are 4 you are grown up enough to go to "big girl" places.

Sydney ordered a triple-decker grilled cheese sandwich. The staff brought her strawberry ice cream with a cherry and candle and sang Happy Birthday. We had lots of fun.
Saturday night Mommy & Daddy, Grandma & Grandpa took Sydney out to dinner and to the Bounce-A-Palooza. If you've never taken a toddler to a Bounce House you haven't lived! The energy, the noise!

You have to take off your shoes and off you go! This is one of Sydney's favorite places to go and she really gets a workout. She runs from bouncer to bouncer, up the giant inflated stairs, down the slides, inside the whale's mouth and between the humongous Spider Man's ankles, around the corner, bounce up and down. I get exhausted just watching her. She's so short that sometimes she can't make it into the openings, but it's neat to know that the bigger kids always seem to help her out.

Here's Grandpa helping Syd ride her birthday scooter as we left the Mall. She learned to kick up her leg by watching Olivia the Pig. Perhaps you've read some of the Olivia books or seen the TV shows.

Sydney is all dressed up for her real party. The cake in the background looked like Duff from Ace of Cakes had made it, but Liz had worked hard on it. It was so beautiful. Notice Sydney has bare feet. I'm afraid she learned that from her mother (Liz) who learned it from her mother (BrendaLou) who learned it from HER mother (Marcella)......generational inheritance! None of us like to wear shoes inside!
I'm birthdayed out! But it was fun!

Catching Up with Family

Here's a few shots from the last week. On Thursday night Liz and I went to the theatre.....we were the only ones there!

Saturday was Liz's birthday. Sydney and I had gone to Target on Friday to get a few things for the party. She insisted on HER favorite party supplies: pointy party hats, funny candles, party napkins & plates and the most important thing for Sydney....A PINATA, of course! There were many pinatas to choose from....a stunning star, a rainbow, butterfly, horses of many colors, Cinderella and more. Sydney was very determined...she knew exactly what she wanted....a blue guitar. We also had to get "lots of candy," toys, lip gloss, glitter pens and more to put inside. Mr. Scottie Dog, Liz, Steve, Syd and I went outside to "do the Pinata." (sounds like a dance!) Sydney swung and hit and hit and hit the pinata, but it didn't break. So Steve took a golf club. One swing and that pinata was history! Candy and stuff all over the neighborhood. It flew over the parked cars.......Sydney was delighted. Then as with our family tradition, Bill played Happy Birthday on the accordion and someone always plays the bass drum. Sydney had practiced the day before and kept very good time.

Today was Sydney's first day back at Pre-School. Of course she had her special dress on, lunch pail ready. After class we interviewed Syd.

Mom: Did you have fun today?
Syd: Yep
Mom: Did you eat lunch?
Syd: Yep
Mom: Did you like your lunch?
Syd: Yep
Mom: Did you know any of the other kids?
Syd: Yep
Mom: Were there any new kids?
Syd: Yep
Mom: You get to go back on Friday.
Syd: Yep
We've never heard her say "Yep" before....but that's all the news we got out of her about Pre-School today.
